Cumberland Youth & Family Services, provides residential care, counseling and supportive services that aim to uplift and empower youth in foster care, young adults aging out of foster care and single-parent families. Position Description:

The primary role of the Director of Finance is to support Cumberland by accurately perform all finance and accounting functions of the agency including transaction processing, financial reporting, review and analysis, budget preparation, and other finance and accounting functions.

Position Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field from an accredited institution. CPA or MBA (Preferred)
• 5 years’ experience in an accounting role
• Experience in financial planning, reporting and budgeting and payroll
• Great interpersonal skills and friendly demeanor
• Ability to work under general supervision
• Must pay attention to details
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively
• Ability to multi-task
• Excellent organizational and computation skills
• Understanding of local, state and federal regulations
• Proficient with Microsoft office, Word, and Excel

Key Expectations/Responsibilities:

• Lead in all aspects of Month End Close and Year End Close to include but not limited to: Revenue, Payroll and Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Purchase order, Investment, Employee credit cards and Cottage debit card Reconciliations
• Preparation of government grant budgets and contracts billing preparation and/or review, budget analysis and compliance monitoring
• Conduct and lead monthly Board of Director Finance Committee meetings
• Reconcile Texas Department of Family & Protective Services or Our Community Our Kids accrued revenue with accounts receivable and file quarterly invoices with various regions.
• Develop budget tools for the agency as a whole, individual programs and new/proposed/expanded services, including forecasting, trend identification and potentially the preparation of budget revisions as needed.
• Manage agency cash flow and forecasting
• Work with the President and CEO to develop annual budget and financial plans
• Manage audit and tax functions
• 401k Accounting and compliance review
• Organize any information needed for both internal and external auditors
• Maintain the chart of accounts, system of controls over accounting transaction and orderly filing system
• Comply with all local, state, and federal laws regarding finances, tax filling and reporting
• Ensure all quarterly and annual tax filings are completed on time and in accordance with related laws and regulations
• Advise the President and CEO of actions and potential financial risks
• Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants
• Submit all compliance and regulatory information online to agency Blue Cross Blue Shield portal
• Administer all documentation associated with participating terminated employee’s roll over into IRA’s
• Process annual fillings and year-end activities including W-2s. 5500s etc.
• Oversee worker’s comp administration
• Manage the agency’s liability insurance program, including ongoing risk analysis.
• Complete monthly expense reports
• Other duties as assigned
• All other duties assigned by management

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

• May lift and carry up to 10 pounds frequently, up to 25 pounds occasionally, up to 40 pounds infrequently.
• Performs tasks that may involve standing or walking 25% of the day; sitting 75% of the day.
• The employee is regularly required to speak or hear, may bend, stoop, reach and grasp as necessary.
